transitioning

Now that we are transitioning into Summer and we are running out of things to do in quarantine, what better time than to give your Capsule Wardrobe a re-jig as well as incorporating some sustainable elements when thinking of purchasing another piece. So here are 3 Style and Sustainability tips:

  1. Think before you buy (It seems very straightforward but trust me we are manifested with emails and adverts on Instagram with stunning new pieces and it does get very tempting to purchase without thinking twice - Think to yourself, does this piece go with the majority of what I own or this just a 1-use item? If so, try using rentable websites such as By Rotation, which is the UK’s leading Fashion Rental App.

  2. Try before you buy (Again try to not just buy thinking it’s going to fit you like a glove straight away because it won’t specially when purchasing online but if you have the option of trying it in-store then great even though right now isn’t the best time to do so) I recommend using Klarna, which is a interest free 3-Instalment Payment option where it allows you more time to think twice and return without paying all at once, with returns).

  3. Turtlenecks out, T-Shirts in (When clearing out your wardrobe consider the positioning of clothing items and seasonal changes so for instance when it gets to early Spring so around March I swap my thicker knits, which are out for me to grab and the closest to me when opening my wardrobe door, and I swap them for my lighter knits/t-shirts/tank tops etc). I found this one not only a Time-Saver but keeps your wardrobe looking nice a neat without having to rummage through piles of tops to get out your everyday t-shirt.

So there you have it 3 Easy Tips you can incorporate into your Capsule Wardrobe and ways of having a more minimalistic (Marie Kondo) approach to your everyday. I’d also recommend when clearing out you wardrobe creating 3 piles (1 for Charity, 1 to Keep and 1 to Lend to someone you know and maybe evern a 4th one for alterations and tailoring) to minimalise any material waste as shockingly clothing has the 4th biggest impact on the environment after transport, housing and food.

Overall something to bare in mind and just reassure you, we are all human, nobody’s perfect so it’s okay if it doesn’t work out the first time, it’s a work in progress and it’s the thought that counts - who knows someday you’ll have 25 items in your wardrobe you stick to forever and know how to create an infinity number of outfits with them - I am definitely taking this approach and only purchasing items I didn’t have for example an essential black sandal or black shorts.

I have also been loving & Other Stories for the Minimalistic yet Chic French-girl style as well as ARKET for their more Modern/Scandi approach. Here are some visuals of what I have been up to this bank holiday - enjoy and hope you all have a great day!
