Here is how I like to take care if my skin and hopefully you can incorporate some things into your daily routine too:

  1. Wear SPF every day of the year.

This one is non-negotiable. It will not only help you from getting sunburnt on those sunny, hot days when it’s 30 degrees outside and your looking for a tan but also prevent signs of aging, wrinkles and fine lines. Thank you nan for this tip! I admit that my clear-olive skin mainly comes from genetics so I have stuck to the 2 step cream since I could literally slather some cream on my face. It’s better to start early than leaving it too late and quicken the aging process through something that can be preventable such as applying some 50+ spf and when I mean every day of the year, I literally mean every day of the year. Now you are probably thinking even winter?! Yes! even winter. Fun Fact: the rays of sunshine in winter are almost the same as in summer so keep that skin just as protected! This is my go-to invisible, light-weight spf 50+ from La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid Sun Cream, which I apply a 20p size amount on my fingers and gently press it onto of my moisturiser after washing my face and under makeup.

  2. Wash your face with cold water first thing and before bed.

Many people tend to surprisingly skip this but when there was no skincare in the world, how did humans freshen up and cleanse? H20. Your best friend. Many people tend have a whole routine of using a muslin cloth to apply products to cleanse and have a set list of things to apply, when in fact if you just wash your face with some cold water to close up those pores to prevent spotting and a clean towel to gently pat dry, then you are good to go before applying the best moisturiser for your skin and then the spf.

  3. Moisturising is key.

Okay so all skin-types are different, some are dehydrated, some are oily, some are sensitive, some are prone to redness, the list goes on… Once you’ve found a good daily moisturiser to apply after washing your face and before applying spf and any makeup, then you are good to go but if you are still on the hunt and not sure, start with a gentle, sensitive moisturiser which contains minimal ingredients and natural is best. So here is my go-to one again from La Roche Posay, which is the Toleriane Sensitive Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin. There are many cruelty-free and sustainable ones I have yet to try such as the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream or the Sukin Sensitive Facial Moisturiser.

  4. Less is better.

I mean this for skincare and makeup, well with an ingredient list anything really, even food. You are what you CAN digest at the end of the day so if you are eating processed food every day or applying heavy makeup every day, just see how your skin might have reacted or if it hasn’t maybe look out for anything in the future. Anything is preventable by taking action now and decreasing those steps. Your skin will not only thank you for doing this and letting it breathe from any chemicals but you’ll save time and use that time to be with loved ones more and be more present. Now I understand makeup is a form of expression and can portray individuality as well as confidence but the natural you, is what counts.

    Embrace the natural you.
